Alors, if La Defence has not been photographed as often as La Provence it's only because the Provence exists longer ;-)
So in my point of view a similar challenge.
Looking at the above pictures & especially the ones of 6. Feb & 11. March "structure" already seems to be the topic replacing "reflection" from the "La Defence" times - and a good one. (And as than, for me it looks like a good start.)
The postcard trap you can't avoid if looking at the everchanging seasons - unless you switch your motives to rubbish dumps and the like....

Jetzt stelle ich erst einmal eine wachsende Zahl "stiller Leser" fest. (Letzten Monat 388, gestern nach dem neuen Posting 37) Das freut natürlich auch schon. Ich hoffe es macht allen Spass.

ich glaube, es ist mal Zeit für meinen ersten Kommentar, nachdem ich nun Deinen blog schon seit Beginn verfolge...

Dieser "post" (?) ist von den Bildern her einer der schönsten! Besonders die letzten beiden Photos gefallen mir sehr.
Sie treten schon sehr in Konkurrenz zu meinen bisherigen Favoriten, darunter "Pyramide - réalité et réflexion", "Le piéton", "Spring birds" und einige der Bilder aus "Crépuscule"... Sammler müsste man sein ;)

Looking at the number of posted comments, one could think that this blog leads a very lonely existence. And yet, there are more than 350 visitors a month, even after subtracting the spam visitors that want to sell you “cheap medicine” or lure you onto Web sites with “adult content”. (I hope the spam filter of the hosting company will continue to block such comments before they can annoy you.)
350 visits is not a lot, but for such a confidential blog as this one it is not bad. It is a pleasure to entertain you, thank you very much for your interest.
One should imagine that most of you come to visit the blog once a new posting goes online – and one might argue that there should be more frequent postings – and yet: against all expectations, there was a very strong peak of visits last Saturday (19/05), a whole week after the previous posting.
Maybe many of you came to have a look whether there was anything new. If that is the case, and you were disappointed finding nothing new, I apologize for the long pause up to this blog. (Subscribe to the RSS feed of the blog in order to be alerted to new postings – on the right side of the post you find the heading “Subscribe”.)
Even though the statistics tell me that I am not alone on the blog, and even though some of you write me emails (more private, of course) with their comments, don’t hesitate to leave your comments below. Die Statistiken trösten über den Mangel an Kommentaren hinweg : Mehr als 350 Besuche pro Monat sind nicht schlecht für einen kleinen unbekannten Blog. Ich hoffe, die 47 Besucher des letzten Samstags kamen nicht alle in der Hoffnung auf einen neuen Eintrag. Wenn doch, dann bitte ich um Entschuldigung für die lange „Sendepause“ und schlage vor, das Abonnement des „RSS-Feeds“ zu benutzen, um über Neuigkeiten informiert zu werden.

Schönes Zitat! Ich kann zur Erwiderung leider nicht so wunderbar reimen wie Kästner, aber der Schatten oder Körperteile des Photographen sind natürlich öfter auf berühmten BIldern zu sehen. Auch ist es hart, Photographen als Schafe zu bezeichnen, die Selbstprotraits machen. :-)

Vielen Dank für den Kommentar. Die Bilder sind in der Tat keine "Architekturbilder" sondern subjektive Eindrücke von Architektur und Urbanismus, die sicher auch meine Faszination widerspiegeln.
Mit dem "Austausch" auf dem Blog ist es allerdings (noch?) nicht weit her: Die meisten Kommentare kommen per Email.
Ihre Email-Adresse: Ich muss gestehen, dass ich zunächst eher an eine Spam-Quelle dachte als an "Physics is good for you". Viel Glück mit pigfy!

Die Fotografie ist wohl das geeignete Medium, die Faszination moderner Architektur zu vermitteln, ein Blog wohl ein geeignetes Medium, sich darüber auszutauschen.

Mir gefallen die formatfüllenden, meist spiegelnden Ausschnitte der Gebäudeoberflächen besonders gut. Die Bilder der Türme in der Abenddämmerung mit den Lichtern in den Büros lassen einen Hauch von Science Fiction aufkommen.

"Just beautifull but nothing more" is a good formulation - but in the end it's the same with the "more" as with the beauty: both is in the eye of the beholder.
I will have a second look after a week but I'm afraid I might be more capable to see the one person on the second image*) than the "more" - which is a question of my character not of the quality of the pictures here.

But if there's something in it, is it always possible to decide where it comes from - the architecture or the one, irreproducible moment or view captured by the camera (and the photographer - of course)?

Nevertheless even before the course of "one week", the third & forth pictures (I don't count the thumbnail) are purely "descriptive" in my opinion.

*) Da ist einer! Der fällt aber nicht in's Gewicht - trotzdem: nettes Suchbild.

Vielen Dank für Deinen Kommentar.
In Frankreich sind wir eher keine "Ausprobierer". Alles wird vorher geplant, am besten mit einer zertifizierten Methode, am besten erst staatlich geprüft oder gar angeordnet. (Wenn der Plan erst steht, wird er dann Gott sei Dank oft weggeworfen.)
Bei mir sind vielleicht die englischen Jahre noch einmal durchgeschlagen...
Es sieht so aus, als könnte nur ich im Admin-Modus die Email-Adressen sehen. Dein Spam-Aufkommen bleibt also hoffentlich unberührt.
Manche Kommentare zum Blog werden als "Junk Spam" zurückgewiesen, so mein eigener Eintrag (Nr.2 oben) Den musste ich als Verwalter erst freischalten. Ich weiss noch nicht womit ich das verdient habe.

Hallo Hans-Josef,

das "Hello World" hat mich beeindruckt und auch an meine ersten Software-Versuche erinnert. Gedanken dazu:
* Schnell ein Ergebnis zeigen ist motivierend, gutes Marketing. Hier können wir Europäer noch immer von den USA lernen.
* Elegante, klare Architektur war und ist das Unix-System, wenn auch nicht auf ein Photo zu bannen. Die Darstellung von Software-Architektur ist trotz vieler guter Ansätze noch immer nicht gelungen.

Toll, Hans-Josef, dass Du die Bloggerei einfach ausprobierst!

Die Frage nach dem geeigneten Bild ist doch - "normative Kraft des Faktischen" - bereits beantwortet:
"Most people would probably not even recognize the statue".
I personnaly would not recognise the CNIT & have never heard of it before - and a symbol (if it is not a personal one but is to be used for a book-cover) has to be known even to the ignorant.
The axis starts at the Louvre & thus comprises much more than just La Defense
So there's only La Grande Arche left - which was clear from the beginning, nicht wahr?
If one 's not the first, the problem is not finding a symbol but finding a picture of the symbol that surprises the beholder, allows him to see the boring*) thing in a totally new way.
The last two pictures shown seem to be suffiently fit for the task.
I like the first one better, because you have to look twice to recognise La Grande A.
(Which is as impressive as ugly.)
*) Being a symbol means being shown so often from all possible angles that they are all endangered of becoming more or less boring, arent they?

Das wäre dann der zweite Test.

Indeed I think the red touches take away some of the insect-like menace of the crane. I did not mean the picture to be menacing in any case.

It is interesting to see that most people gave their feed-back by email or by phone. Exchanging on blogs is not yet the accepted means of communication, it seems.

Some lovely pictures! The glimpses of reflected red in "Construction" were good, so many photos of La Defense are dominated by cool blues and greys and give the area a sombre mood.
